About Ipswich
& District Group
The Group membership
area covers the south east of Suffolk from the Stour estuary
to Woodbridge,
including Felixstowe and Ipswich, but walks take
place over a much wider area.
Features of the district include the
estuaries of the Stour,
Deben and Orwell rivers, heath and marshland along the
coast and the inland agricultural
countryside and woodland.
The Group publishes two
programmes a year, with half-day walks of 5 to 7 miles and all day outings of 8
to 15 miles. During the summer there are also evening walks of about 4 to 5 miles.
Occasionally, there are social
events and long weekend walks in other
areas.
Local Authorities
consult the Group on footpath matters and it regularly represents the walking
fraternity at Public Enquiries and also on other bodies.
If you would like to
come walking with us you can see the
current programme here
or contact our Membership Secretary
or General
Secretary.
